Product Description
Ball lenses, or coupling spheres, are often used to couple fibers to diodes or detectors. When used to couple two fibers together, they create an expanded beam, and lateral misalignment is less sensitive than when the fibers are directly butt-coupled. Ball lenses offer high coupling efficiency and provide an alternative to the use of microscope objectives or gradient-index lenses. The 17 HCS series of spherical ball lens holders feature a common brass housing with two clamping rings specific to the lens diameter being mounted.
This 001 is designed for 2-mm-diameter lenses and has an O.D. of 25 mm.
