    Product Description

Massa M-4000 Ultrasonic Measurement and Control System

The Massa Model M-4000 Ultrasonic Measurement & Control System is a universal electronics package incorporating state of the art ultrasonic technology to provide practical solutions for many different measurement and control problems. The M-4000 electronics is supplied in a NEMA 4 enclosure and features remotely mounted transducers for measurements in closely confined areas. An Ultrasonic Module Assembly, available in different frequencies and sensing ranges, easily plugs into the M-4000, optimizing the sensing range for the specific application and allowing easy and inexpensive modification of the system for changing requirements. An optional Temperature Compensation Assembly retrofits easily and compensates for changes to the speed of sound caused by varying ambient temperature.

The system transmits narrow beam acoustic pulses at a user selectable rate, processes an echo reflected from a target within a defined range, and provides multiple control outputs depending on the position of the target.

The M-4000 contains both analog outputs and digital setpoints that are mutually independent and user adjustable. The analog outputs produce a proportional voltage (0-10 V DC) and current (4-20 mA) when a target is within a user adjustable window between the ZERO position and the SPAN position. The voltage and current increase as the target moves away from the sensors when the Analog Control switch is in the NORM position, and decrease when the switch is in the INV position. Once the SPAN position has been set, the entire window can be repositioned by adjusting the ZERO position only.

The Setpoint Controls produce digital outputs depending on the position of the target relative to user set minimum and maximum positions. In addition, a digital output is provided whenever a target is sensed. A NO/NC switch inverts the MIN and MAX output states for maximum flexibility.
