These units were manufactured by Carl Zeiss during WW2. They are used to obtain an intercept and azimuth in order to plot the results of a sextant observation, thus many volumes of sight reduction tables were made obsolete. Another use was to compute the initial great circle course and distance between any two positions in the world by solving the spherical geometry.

This unit comes with the Calculator, Case, Power cord, 4 extra lamps.

Rudolph i1000 Insitu Ellipsometer
$3950.00 As Is  Please visit: www.torontosurplus.com for further details.
The Rudolph ellipsometer is an optical instrument for measuring film thickness and index of refraction. It works by allowing light of known polarization to interact with a thin film structure. In general, the reflected light has a polarization different from the incident light. Knowing the polarization states of the light before and after reflection allows you to calculate film thickness and refractive index (given certain assumptions about the film structure).

There are 3 parts to this system, although only one is shown. Additional photos available upon request.
